Dhriiti in collaboration with Interglobe Foundation, launched Project Pragati in 2018 envisioning a strong women-led ecosystem in the Arecanut Plate Making Business. The project currently operates in the Choygaon- Boko area of South Kamrup district in Assam.
The first phase of Project Pragati which ran between 2018-2020 successfully incubated the businesses of 30 women entrepreneurs post the training of 33 women. In addition to this, another 5 dryer entrepreneurs were created as specialised service providers to the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The 30 women entrepreneurs successfully operates as 2 SHGs- Pragati and Unnati, whose joint turnover from their businesses from the start of operations is Rs 17 Lakhs, as of April 2020. The businesses also generated a secondary income to a larger base of raw material collectors and suppliers.
Pragati 2.0 has commenced in March 2020. We aim to expand and bring structure to the raw material collector base. This year we will focus on accelerating the existing entrepreneurs into expanding their businesses, building their capacities in financial and business planning for their own businesses as well as their SHGs.
