Konjengbam Lilima Devi

Lilima wants to work on women empowerment by providing maximum employment to them through her venture “Rise Youth Enterprise”, and plans to realize this goal by venturing into cheese making business.  With the lack of employment opportunities in Manipur, women rebound to household work. She wants to target households engaged in farming and livestock rearing and eventually entering the Food Industry.

Rise Youth Enterprise will focus on encouraging the production of more dairy products and to make the supply of milk readily available in the market instead of depending on supply from outside States. This venture will serve as a manufacturing unit for dairy products like fresh cheese, butter, cream and more dairy products at an affordable rate. Since most of the supplies are imported and dependent on supply from other states, at times the quality and availability are compromised. Initially it will target small markets like the local restaurants, pizzerias, fast food joints and domestic consumers and then aim to replace the regional and national brands. This will help in bridging the gap in dairy products.

Lilima is from Cohort 2.0 of Project Her&Now.
