An artisan entrepreneur from Nagaland, Vekuvolu Dozo brings change with weaving. She has been practicing loin loom (back-strap) weaving which was passed on from her mother. She draws inspiration from old memories and keeps her designs simple, nostalgic and rooted to tradition. Back strap Loom/ Loin loom weaving takes at least 3 days to complete a simple table runner. Vika Ethnic Production offers a wide range of home furnishing products. Thus they continue to promote the traditional way of weaving which helps impact the future generations to learn and preserve the cultural values and tradition. She is supported, trained, promoted and marketed by Antaran, transforming crafts (An initiative of Tata Trusts) and does most of her marketing online through Instagram and whatsapp.
Vekuvolu is from Cohort 2.0 of Project Her&Now.
